Nothing Phone (3) Is Here, Replaces LED Lights With 'Glyph Matrix' Panel

Nothing has revealed its latest Android smartphone, the Nothing Phone (3). It’s an impressive package of hardware and software, though fans of previous models might miss the LED accent lights.

As with the previous Nothing Phone (2), the main selling point for the Nothing Phone (3) is the striking design. However, the transparent casing and LED lights from previous models have been removed. Instead, there’s a new “bold geometric aesthetic” and an updated Glyph Matrix LED panel.

The new Glph Matrix is a circular LED panel on the back of the phone, which can be controlled with the dedicated Glyph button. It can serve some of the same functions as the outside display on phones like the Galaxy Z Flip, such as showing a clock, stopwatch, battery level, caller ID, and other information. There’s also a low-resolution mirror for the rear cameras, and some basic games like Magic 8 Ball.

The Nothing Phone (3) ships with Nothing OS 3.5 out of the box, based on Android 15. It has a new universal search function called Essential Search, a ‘Flip to Record’ feature to transcribe and summarize meetings, and a few other unique software additions. The company is promising an Android 16-based update in the third quarter of 2025, as well as five years of major Android updates and 7 years of security updates.

Besides the unique software and hardware features, the Nothing Phone has everything you would expect from a flagship Android phone. It has a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen, IP68 water and dust protection, 256GB of storage, 12GB RAM, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and a 5,150mAh battery. The higher-end model bumps up the storage and RAM to 512GB and 16GB, respectively.

There are three rear cameras in total: a 50MP main lens, a 50MP periscope camera with 3x optical zoom, and a 50MP ultrawide lens. The front-facing camera is also 50MP. That should deliver a decent quality for photos and videos, especially if the camera performance of the Nothing Phone (2) is anything to go by, but it won’t beat phones like the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

You can buy the Nothing Phone (3) at the official website and “select partners” starting on July 4, 2025. General availability will start on July 15, 2025.

The base model with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage will cost $799 in the United States, £799 in the United Kingdom, and €799 in Europe. The higher-end option with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage will cost £899, $899, and €899.
